The Children's Law Center, a legal service organization dedicated to protecting the interest of children involved in high conflict custody and visitation cases, announces the expansion of its Legal Representation program into the Waterbury Judicial District.
The Legal Representation program provides court-appointed attorneys to indigent children whose parents are embroiled in bitter custody and visitation disputes in family court. In addition to the requirement of indigence, cases must also be exacerbated by allegations of domestic violence, substance abuse, child abuse or neglect, mental illness or other chronic conflict.
The program also operates in the Judicial Districts of Hartford, New Britain, and Windham. Because of the program's high demand, it frequently operates at full capacity.
"We are excited to join the Waterbury legal community. We know that there is a great need for our services here, and we are thankful for the support of the Connecticut Bar Foundation among others for making this expansion possible, " commented Executive Director Attorney Justine Rakich-Kelly.
